Details

This panel celebrates Y-Dang Troeung’s life and memoir Landbridge, the inaugural title in Dionne Brand’s series Alchemy. Troeung, who grew up in the Kitchener-Waterloo area tragically passed away before the book’s release. Through a collective discussion featuring Christopher Patterson, Madeleine Thein, and, hopefully, you, we will explore what it means to write about genocide, race, migration, illness, and motherhood. Panelists will discuss the challenges and affordances of life writing, fragments as form, and memory work. Focusing on Troeung’s luminous prose and storytelling, the panelists will shed further light on the purpose and potential of the memoir genre itself.
